Match Report

Stadio Ercoliano
Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0)
Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ercole Cirone started the match with the kick off. When Frank Greco came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Cerodolo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Greco couldn't finish the play. After 14 minutes of play, AS Porto Ercole's Amerigo Nardi made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Frank De Iuliis was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fabio Tiburtini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ercole Cirone in the 20th minute of play. Donato Bassani's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frank De Iuliis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. If Ercole Cirone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Cerodolo's Frank Greco in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye AS Porto Ercole's goalie prevented a goal. Ercole Cirone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute, Amerigo Nardi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Donato Bassani struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Frank De Iuliis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AS Porto Ercole.

The wind increased when Donato Bassani made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Antonio Manzoli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cerodolo and the AS Porto Ercole players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of AS Porto Ercole booed when Cerodolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Manzoli didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 54 played minutes, AS Porto Ercole's Arturo Giannetta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frank De Iuliis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AS Porto Ercole reached it. In the 58th match minute, AS Porto Ercole was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Fanfarone to maneuver through the defense. Frank De Iuliis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donato Bassani in the 62nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Cerodolo defense, Amerigo Nardi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frank De Iuliis. The Cerodolo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frank De Iuliis should have stopped the shot. Amerigo Nardi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cerodolo's Ercole Cirone got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank Grecos short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Fabio Tiburtini to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Frank Greco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st match minute, AS Porto Ercole was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aldo Laurenti to maneuver through the defense. Frank Greco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 83rdth minute tested the skills of Fabio Tiburtini when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to AS Porto Ercole getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Emilio Bocchi hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, AS Porto Ercole's Adriano Tacco got a free kick in the 85th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Cerodolo's Cristiano Santarelli broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When the match had been going on for 95 minutes, Cerodolo's Cristiano Santarelli got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Fabio Tiburtini. 99 minutes into the match, Cerodolo's goal looked a bit too open when Aldo Laurenti came free, but Frank De Iuliis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
