Through an outstanding action, after 14 minutes, Arturo Di Matteo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 24th match minute, Napoli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Domenici to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute, Diego De Filippo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Savona FC's Concetto Mattei couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Napoli. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bianco Polo got free with Arturo Di Matteo in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Ercole Valletta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Savona FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ercole Valletta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Di Matteo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 35th match minute, Savona FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bianco Polo to maneuver through the defense. Filippo Iannone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Domenici, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Arturo Di Matteo acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 45th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Christian Carlini. When Alex Domenici came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Napoli fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Domenici couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ercole Valletta was the one to do the kick off. Arturo Di Matteo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adriano Burelli went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Napoli's zone, Adriano Burelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arturo Di Matteo came out of the goal and Adriano Burelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arturo Di Matteo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ercole Valletta in the 72nd minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Savona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Domenici came free, but Filippo Iannone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ercole Valletta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filippo Iannone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Domenici, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Ercole Valletta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Ercole Valletta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arturo Di Matteo was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. If Andrea Busillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
