After a rather tough play, Sampdoria's Comunardo Pich got a free kick in the 5th minute. The supporters of Sampdoria booed when Santerno FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dino Papetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Scafati made an important save on a dangerous shot by Biagio Censi in the 17th minute. Bruno Scafati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damiano Antonini in the 20th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Santerno FC's goalkeeper Bruno Scafati had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Biagio Censi. The Sampdoria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The wind increased when Damiano Antonini made the kick off in the second half. Biagio Censi took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bruno Scafati. Bruno Scafati dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Damiano Antonini managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sampdoria's supporters rose to their feet, but Damiano Antonini was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Scafati breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Biagio Censi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Antonello Antonangeli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th minute Biagio Censi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Scafati saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Dino Papetti fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santerno FC's protests and gave Dino Papetti a yellow card for diving instead. Dino Papetti kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. 72 minutes into the match, Biagio Censi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bruno Scafati. Santerno FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Biagio Censi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. 87 minutes into the match, Santerno FC's goal looked a bit too open when Damiano Antonini came free, but Bruno Scafati reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sampdoria's zone, Amos Pio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ettore Bellisario came out of the goal and Amos Pio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
