Dino Loreto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Demetrio De Paolis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Demetrio De Paolis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Spiazzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Filippo Palermo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Demetrio De Paolis made a huge save. If Anselmo Massaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Dino Loreto in the 78th minute of play forced Pomodori's goalkeeper Demetrio De Paolis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 81 minutes into the game, when Aurelio Caiola put in a rough tackle.
