The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Camnago Volta AFC's Damiano Bordon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fortunato Nicolo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antonello Verdini during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 8 played minutes Camnago Volta AFC got a freekick which was hit by Antonello Verdini. After a rather tough play, Camnago Volta AFC's Adriano Pomponio got a free kick in the 9th minute. Fortunato Nicolo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonello Tundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Toomas Ime had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 played minutes Camnago Volta AFC got a freekick which was hit by Anthony Bucciarelli. 20 minutes into the match, Mircea Ştef notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Camnago Volta AFC's Antonio Marra. Antonio Marra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonello Tundo in the 24th minute of play forced Varedo AFC's goalkeeper Fortunato Nicolo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 25th minute of the game. One of Varedo AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Camnago Volta AFC:s goal. 30 minutes into the match, Camnago Volta AFC's goalkeeper Antonio Marra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mircea Ştef. In the 33rd minute Antonello Tundo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fortunato Nicolo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fortunato Nicolo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonello Tundo in the 34th minute of play. A hard shot 36 in the game by Mircea Ştef from a close distance when the talented Antonio Marra managed to make a qualified save. Camnago Volta AFC's players were relieved. A collision led to Camnago Volta AFC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Adriano Pomponio hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damiano Bordon in the 46th minute of play forced Varedo AFC's goalkeeper Fortunato Nicolo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antonello Tundo made a kick off. Alfonso Simeoni, 57 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Varedo AFC's Gelu Udubaşa got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Damiano Bordon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Fortunato Nicolo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 65 minutes of play, Varedo AFC's Mircea Ştef made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antonio Marra was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 70 played minutes Camnago Volta AFC got a freekick which was hit by Antonello Ciaccia. Varedo AFC's Mircea Ştef got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 78 minutes into the game, when Eugenio Furia put in a rough tackle. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mircea Ştef in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antonio Marra saved Camnago Volta AFC from getting behind. Ercole Nicolai scored 4-2 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Antonio Marra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Varedo AFC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
