The supporters of Castelnuovo booed when ASD Marola Calcio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dino Marulli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Cino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dino Locatelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 21st match minute, Castelnuovo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvise Alba to maneuver through the defense. If Felice Speranza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute, Aldo Montagna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alvise Alba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ennio Valcareggi having to interfere. Dino Locatelli might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberto Cino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dino Locatelli ran back to his position shaking his head. When Dino Marulli fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ASD Marola Calcio's protests and gave Dino Marulli a yellow card for diving instead. Ennio Valcareggi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aldo Montagna, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. If Alvise Alba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aldo Montagna was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Alvise Alba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ennio Valcareggi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Aldo Montagna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee gave ASD Marola Calcio a penalty, 66 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ennio Renzi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Castelnuovo's Alberto Cino. 0-2. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Alvise Alba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castelnuovo's supporters rose to their feet, but Alvise Alba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ennio Valcareggi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elia Vettori during the 83rd minute.
