Amos Santacroce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrea Ricciuti having to interfere. Andrea Ricciuti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amos Santacroce in the 11th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Pavarolo FC's zone, Amos Santacroce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrea Ricciuti came out of the goal and Amos Santacroce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the match, Pavarolo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuele Battisti came free, but Andrea Ricciuti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Emanuele Battisti came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Montecelio FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuele Battisti couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Montecelio FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Alex Candeloro hit a great ball. Montecelio FC's Eraldo Palleschi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Guerini in the 29th minute of play. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Amos Santacroce sped through Pavarolo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andrea Ricciuti. Ernesto Guidoni's late challenge caught a Montecelio FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernesto Guidoni helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Pavarolo FC's Ernesto Guidoni got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute Emanuele Battisti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrea Ricciuti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciccio Oddi's late challenge caught a Montecelio FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciccio Oddi helped the player get up and apologised. After the first half Montecelio FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Emanuele Battisti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Amos Santacroce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Montecelio FC booed when Pavarolo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Burgnich didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Montecelio FC's Enzo Masi tried to score from far away in the 88th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christian Lavatrice during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Montecelio FC's Christian Lavatrice got a free kick in the 92nd minute. 96 minutes into the game, Cesare Fabri cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Eraldo Palleschi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match was over Montecelio FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Pavarolo FC throughout the match.
