MOLFETTA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bagno A Ripoli the free kick. After 7 played minutes A.S. MOLFETTA got a freekick which was hit by Mikkel Frøseth. In the 7th minute of the match Carlo Cardillo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fortunato Piacentini showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Bianco Giusto was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 10 minutes into the match. In the 9th minute, one of A.S. MOLFETTA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for A.S. MOLFETTA. Carlo Cardillo placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! A.S. MOLFETTA's Fortunato Piacentini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save A.S. MOLFETTA from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alvise Benarrivo got free with Fortunato Piacentini in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cesare Cordone kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Fortunato Piacentini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edoardo Mazzini, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. When Bagno A Ripoli's Edoardo Mazzini in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye A.S. After having played for 42 minutes, Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.S. MOLFETTA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mikkel Frøseth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dave Domenghini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Bagno A Ripoli's zone, Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dave Domenghini came out of the goal and Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, A.S. MOLFETTA's Fortunato Piacentini got control of the ball when Alvise Benarrivo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edoardo Mazzini made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alvise Benarrivo in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fortunato Piacentini saved A.S. MOLFETTA from getting behind. A collision led to A.S. MOLFETTA getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Arturo Colle hit a great ball. Fortunato Piacentini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edoardo Mazzini, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Mikkel Frøseth fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 74th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. After a defensive mix-up in Bagno A Ripoli's zone, Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dave Domenghini came out of the goal and Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abdul Aziz van de Meerakker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Dave Domenghini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fortunato Piacentini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edoardo Mazzini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fortunato Piacentini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvise Benarrivo, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute Alvise Benarrivo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fortunato Piacentini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alvise Benarrivo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Fortunato Piacentini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, A.S. MOLFETTA failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
