In the 7th minute Cristiano Monaco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anselmo Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Monaco in the 10th minute of play. With a little luck, Popletum FC's Anselmo Miranda got control of the ball when Donato Giordano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristiano Monaco in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anselmo Miranda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 19 minutes into the game, Popletum FC's Camillo Rubini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Daniele Bellone made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 29 minutes into the game, Cristiano Monaco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Anselmo Miranda. Cristiano Monaco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Cristiano Monaco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Miranda having to interfere. In the 35th minute of the match, Donato Giordano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Anselmo Miranda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 36th minute, Arturo Rossini made a precise shot to the right of Anselmo Miranda. Popletum FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Cristiano Monaco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Miranda having to interfere. Daniele Bellone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Camillo Rubini in the 43rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davide Miconi in the 45th minute of play forced Boratella's goalkeeper Daniele Bellone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Popletum FC's zone, Cristiano Monaco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anselmo Miranda came out of the goal and Cristiano Monaco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristiano Monaco to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristiano Monaco in the 60th minute of play forced Popletum FC's goalkeeper Anselmo Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amedeo Sorrentino struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Daniele Bellone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Popletum FC. Davide Miconi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute, Arturo Rossini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Boratella fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Popletum FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
