James Joyce Academy's Federico Romino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessio Monzeglio in the 6th minute of play. After 11 minutes, Alberigo Rotondi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the James Joyce Academy and the Rimini players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alessio Monzeglio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Federico Romino having to interfere. Amedeo Minicucci hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Rimini's zone, Camillo Cannone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dario Damiani came out of the goal and Camillo Cannone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fedele Zisser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Dario Damiani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute Alfredo Cipriani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Romino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Cristiano Marzulli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the match, James Joyce Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Alessio Monzeglio came free, but Federico Romino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Camillo Cannone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alessio Monzeglio made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Camillo Cannone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Damiani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Cipriani could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Federico Romino made a huge save. In the 59th match minute, Rimini was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Federico Piretti to maneuver through the defense. Camillo Cannone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Fedele Zisser managed to get in a good position for a shot. James Joyce Academy's supporters rose to their feet, but Fedele Zisser was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dario Damiani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alfredo Ciprianis short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Federico Romino to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Alessio Monzeglio's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Federico Romino skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With his leg Federico Romino managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Rimini's Alessio Monzeglio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 80 minutes, Camillo Cannone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. James Joyce Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Camillo Cannone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Fedele Zisser had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dario Damiani. Rimini's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fedele Zisser was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Alfredo Candeloro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dario Damiani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. If Cesare Marcon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Camillo Cannone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. James Joyce Academy fully deserved thier win.
