The audience thought a goal was coming when Attilio Nicolini got free with Francesco Pazienza in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 12 minutes, Franco Vinci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montanaro and the San Lorenzo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 12th match minute, Montanaro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franco Vinci to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Cosimo Colucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Montanaro's Francesco Pazienza got control of the ball when Attilio Nicolini tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ciro Sacchetti shot from long distance in the 19th minute, but Francesco Pazienza was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. A collision led to Montanaro getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Alvise Sasso hit a great ball. Franco Vinci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Emilio Di Biagio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francesco Pazienza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Sampo in the 34th minute of the match. The supporters of San Lorenzo booed when Montanaro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franco Vinci didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eugenio Sampo in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francesco Pazienza saved Montanaro from getting behind. Attilio Nicolini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Montanaro's Cosimo Colucci got a free kick in the 39th minute. Eugenio Sampo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francesco Pazienza having to interfere.

After 66 minutes of play, Montanaro's Alvise Sasso made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emilio Di Biagio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Franco Vinci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. In the 70th match minute, San Lorenzo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniele Troiani to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Spiazzi in the 78th minute of play forced San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Emilio Di Biagio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Attilio Nicolini in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francesco Pazienza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Francesco Pazienza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Sampo in the 83rd minute of the match. Eugenio Sampo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Attilio Nicolini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Francesco Pazienza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
