Concetto Massaro's late challenge caught a TROOM's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Concetto Massaro helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes Calcio Catania got a freekick which was hit by Concetto Massaro. If Enzo Taglieri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Enzo Taglieri managed to get in a good position for a shot. TROOM's supporters rose to their feet, but Enzo Taglieri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flavio Loreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Flavio Loreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eraldo Silveri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eraldo Silveri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Loreto having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Enzo Taglieri notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Calcio Catania's Flavio Loreto. Flavio Loreto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Flavio Loreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eraldo Silveri in the 37th minute of play. Comunardo Grandis's late challenge caught a Calcio Catania's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Comunardo Grandis helped the player get up and apologised. TROOM's Ciro Sorrentino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Di Fonzo in the 45th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

After 56 played minutes, TROOM's Alberto Lorenzi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Flavio Loreto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in TROOM reached it. Ciro Sorrentino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Di Fonzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Frank Di Fonzo sped through TROOM's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ciro Sorrentino. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristiano Di Girolamo during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to TROOM getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Cristiano Di Girolamo hit a great ball. Frank Di Fonzo struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Ciro Sorrentino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Calcio Catania. Frank Di Fonzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciro Sorrentino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Di Fonzo in the 82nd minute of the match. Ciro Sorrentino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto Massaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frank Di Fonzo in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ciro Sorrentino saved TROOM from getting behind. Ciro Sorrentino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Di Fonzo in the 91st minute of play. Eraldo Silveri came free with the goalkeeper in the 93rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Flavio Loreto could save by the left post. In the 93rd minute, Concetto Massaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Calcio Catania getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Concetto Massaro hit a great ball. If Eraldo Silveri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. TROOM's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
