The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Sesto San Giovanni's Enrico Quercia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alberigo Iacovella narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Amos Di Tommaso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Alessio Sacchi made a huge save. Vaneze's Alberigo Iacovella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrico Quercia in the 7th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Sesto San Giovanni's goal looked a bit too open when Ciccio Atroce came free, but Alessio Sacchi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrico Quercia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberigo Iacovella having to interfere. Alexander De Rossi might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberigo Iacovella. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alexander De Rossi ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Sesto San Giovanni's Enrico Quercia got a free kick in the 18th minute. Amerigo Caccia hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrico Quercia in the 22nd minute of play forced Vaneze's goalkeeper Alberigo Iacovella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrico Quercia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberigo Iacovella having to interfere. Enrico Quercia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Verna in the 32nd minute of play forced Sesto San Giovanni's goalkeeper Alessio Sacchi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ciccio Atroce was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Sesto San Giovanni booed when Vaneze was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fortunato Centofanti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alessio Sacchi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciccio Atroce in the 56th minute of the match. After having played for 66 minutes, Amos Di Tommaso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vaneze's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amos Di Tommaso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alessio Sacchi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amos Di Tommaso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amos Di Tommaso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessio Sacchi having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, Vaneze's Ciccio Atroce nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alessio Sacchi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sesto San Giovanni's goalkeeper Alessio Sacchi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Alexander De Rossi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alberigo Iacovella was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
