The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Giacomozzi in the 3rd minute of play forced Pitelli FC's goalkeeper Cesare Mazzocchetti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fausto Di Fonzo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberigo Quercia having to interfere. Fausto Di Fonzo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Alberigo Quercia made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Amos Conforti got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a rather tough play, San Giuliano AFC's Carter Galliani got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, Ciccio De Simone sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and San Giuliano AFC's Alberigo Quercia didn't even have to move. Bernardo Giacomozzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Cesare Mazzocchetti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cesare Mazzocchetti came out of the goal and Filippo Rubini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Flavio Burelli fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pitelli FC's protests and gave Flavio Burelli a yellow card for diving instead. In the 49th minute of the match Filippo Liaci sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cesare Mazzocchetti skillfully saved the ball. After the first half San Giuliano AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernardo Giacomozzi was the one to do the kick off. Cesare Mazzocchetti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardo Giacomozzi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Cesare Mazzocchetti managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when San Giuliano AFC's Filippo Rubini fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Bernardo Giacomozzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fausto Di Fonzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cesare Mazzocchetti stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bernardo Giacomozzi's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Fausto Di Fonzo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberigo Quercia having to interfere. Filippo Rubini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Cesare Mazzocchetti made a huge save. After having played for 80 minutes, Fausto Di Fonzo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pitelli FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Di Fonzo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 98 played minutes San Giuliano AFC got a freekick which was hit by Filippo Rubini.
