The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Francesco Curti fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.C.Milan's protests and gave Francesco Curti a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in A.C.Milan fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 4th minute. Penalty! In the 6th minute there was a penalty for Citadinaza. Alfredo Micarelli stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Comunardo Sacchi. 0-1. Aldo Capobianco hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Citadinaza's Damiano Briano got control of the ball when Dave Oberrauch tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of A.C.Milan booed when Citadinaza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Capobianco didn't get a good kick on the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Daniele Maietta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Damiano Briano, 1-1. After some careless play in the A.C.Milan defense, Bruno Melchiorre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Comunardo Sacchi. The A.C.Milan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Comunardo Sacchi should have stopped the shot. Comunardo Sacchi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Melchiorre in the 28th minute of the match. After 30 played minutes A.C.Milan got a freekick which was hit by Carlo Mingione. Alfredo Micarelli was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 31st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniele Maietta in the 38th minute of play forced Citadinaza's goalkeeper Damiano Briano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniele Maietta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A.C.Milan's Comunardo Sacchi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavio Colelli in the 46th minute of play. The A.C.Milan players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Citadinaza were winning 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flavio Colelli to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Citadinaza's Flavio Colelli slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Comunardo Sacchi. That made the score 1-4 after 58 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice moves Bruno Melchiorre could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Comunardo Sacchi however easily saved by the left post. Damiano Briano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniele Maietta in the 66th minute of play. Alfredo Micarelli kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Francesco Curti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Damiano Briano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. If Flavio Colelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bruno Melchiorre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Citadinaza booed when A.C.Milan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlo Mingione didn't get a good kick on the ball. 78 minutes into the match, A.C.Milan's goalkeeper Comunardo Sacchi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruno Melchiorre. A hard shot 80 in the game by Bruno Melchiorre from a close distance when the talented Comunardo Sacchi managed to make a qualified save. A.C.Milan's players were relieved. Damiano Briano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniele Maietta in the 82nd minute of play. In the 88th minute, Dave Oberrauch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The A.C.Milan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Citadinaza's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
