The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ciccio Ascani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alvaro Belardi in the 10th minute of the match. Rupinpiccolo's Andrea De Angelis got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basilicanova's Edoardo Bolli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave Mastrangelo in the 16th minute of play. Ennio Marrone hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Anfilogino Marconi sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Basilicanova's Edoardo Bolli didn't even have to move. With a little luck, Basilicanova's Edoardo Bolli got control of the ball when Andrea De Angelis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edoardo Bolli was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dave Mastrangelo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. In the 31st minute Fedele Giacomozzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciccio Ascani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andrea De Angelis got free with Edoardo Bolli in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Rupinpiccolo's zone, Alvaro Belardi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciccio Ascani came out of the goal and Alvaro Belardi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dave Mastrangelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edoardo Bolli having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dave Mastrangelo was the one to do the kick off. Edoardo Bolli came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Rupinpiccolo's Andrea De Angelis. But to his dismay, Andrea De Angelis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Edoardo Bolli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Mastrangelo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. 56 minutes into the game, Alvaro Belardi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Ciccio Ascani was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62ndth minute of the game Fedele Giacomozzi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rupinpiccolo's Ciccio Ascani was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Andrea De Angelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvaro Belardi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 78 played minutes Fedele Giacomozzi rounded Rupinpiccolo's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-4. Ciccio Ascani made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Alvaro Belardi sent off a good shot on target. 87 minutes into the match, Rupinpiccolo's Andrea De Angelis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edoardo Bolli narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rupinpiccolo's Ciccio Ascani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fedele Giacomozzi in the 90th minute of play. When Frank Curti fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rupinpiccolo's protests and gave Frank Curti a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st match minute, Rupinpiccolo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Curti to maneuver through the defense.
