Aldo Rizzo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Cosimo Cicchini. When Fedele Lucchetti fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Persico's protests and gave Fedele Lucchetti a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Persico getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Fedele Lucchetti hit a great ball. Frank Pomponio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Coco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Persico's Angelo Rocchetti got a free kick in the 15th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alvise Mazzini in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frank Pomponio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Frank Pomponio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Coco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th match minute, Persico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fedele Lucchetti to maneuver through the defense. Adriano Coco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Frank Pomponio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Bari AFC's Aldo Rizzo got control of the ball when Alex Diana tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Alexander Trinca came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Bari AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexander Trinca couldn't finish the play. Alex Diana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Rizzo having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Persico's zone, Alvise Mazzini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Pomponio came out of the goal and Alvise Mazzini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alvise Mazzini stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aldo Rizzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Campese, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Alvise Mazzini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Frank Pomponio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Coco got free with Frank Pomponio in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Alex Diana sped through Bari AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aldo Rizzo. In the 77th minute, Adriano Coco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frank Pomponio was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Alvise Mazzini capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alvise Mazzini really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 90 minutes into the game, Armin Guerriero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bari AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Persico the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Campese in the 93rd minute of play forced Bari AFC's goalkeeper Aldo Rizzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bari AFC's goalkeeper Aldo Rizzo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
