Attilio Alleva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Attilio Alleva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ennio Granata in the 18th minute of the match. Gallarate's Francesco Silvagni got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Filippo Scatena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Corrado Lopez's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Gazzaro AFC's Attilio Alleva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ennio Granata in the 28th minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Ennio Granata had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Attilio Alleva. Gazzaro AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ennio Granata was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Bruno Palumbo's late challenge caught a Gazzaro AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bruno Palumbo helped the player get up and apologised. After 36 played minutes Gallarate got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Palumbo. Attilio Alleva came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Gallarate's Francesco Silvagni. But to his dismay, Francesco Silvagni quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Corrado Lopez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Francesco Silvagni might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Attilio Alleva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francesco Silvagni ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 55th minute, Ennio Granata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Amerigo Cara kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. When Ennio Granata came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Gallarate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ennio Granata couldn't finish the play. Francesco Silvagni received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Attilio Alleva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francesco Silvagni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Attilio Alleva having to interfere. Davide Persia took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Attilio Alleva. Gazzaro AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Attilio Alleva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arrigo Combi, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. When Bruno Alessandrini fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gazzaro AFC's protests and gave Bruno Alessandrini a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Gazzaro AFC's Bruno Alessandrini got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Francesco Silvagni's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Attilio Alleva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 96 minutes, Ennio Granata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gallarate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ennio Granata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gallarate played a much better game than Gazzaro AFC and deserved their victory. The Gazzaro AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
