Diego Sampo scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alvise Marini, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eugenio Candeloro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Diego Carota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugenio Candeloro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aurelio Menna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Carota having to interfere. Diego Carota made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eugenio Candeloro in the 17th minute. In the 20th match minute, Palazzi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Comunardo Di Cesare to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Palazzi's zone, Anselmo Cabrini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvise Marini came out of the goal and Anselmo Cabrini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alvise Marini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anselmo Cabrini in the 29th minute of the match. Alvise Marini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Cabrini in the 30th minute of play. If Aurelio Menna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Villalba's Diego Carota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelio Menna in the 38th minute of play. Diego Carota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelio Menna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabio Piccone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Alvise Marini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 49th minute Fabio Piccone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvise Marini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fabio Piccone stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Villalba's Diego Carota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelio Menna in the 54th minute of play. Comunardo Di Cesare hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. A collision led to Villalba getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Fortunato Di Placido hit a great ball. Villalba's Anselmo Cabrini got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the game, Fabio Piccone was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Villalba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palazzi the free kick. In the 73rd match minute, Villalba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Piccone to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 75 minutes, Fabio Piccone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villalba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabio Piccone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anselmo Cabrini took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alvise Marini. Alvise Marini dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 82 minutes into the game, Villalba's Anselmo Cabrini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvise Marini made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Anthony Tartaglia kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Damiano Simeoni took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Diego Carota. Villalba's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Eugenio Candeloro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Diego Carota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match, Palazzi's goalkeeper Alvise Marini had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anselmo Cabrini. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Villalba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
