The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Sacconago booed when Cantone FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bianco Ceresoli didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Alessio Balzani came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Sacconago fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alessio Balzani couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Sacconago's zone, Claudio Chiarelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donato Cagnetta came out of the goal and Claudio Chiarelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flavio Ferreri struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Donato Cagnetta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cantone FC. In the 30th minute, Claudio Chiarelli made a precise shot to the right of Donato Cagnetta. Sacconago's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Claudio Chiarelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donato Cagnetta having to interfere. When Alberigo Festuccia fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sacconago's protests and gave Alberigo Festuccia a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Sacconago got a freekick which was hit by Alberigo Festuccia. Attilio Bartolomucci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute Attilio Bartolomucci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Cagnetta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sacconago's Donato Cagnetta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Attilio Bartolomucci in the 87th minute of play. In the 89th minute Cantone FC were awarded a corner. Bianco Ceresoli went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Biagio Bianco heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Attilio Bartolomucci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cantone FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Attilio Bartolomucci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato Cagnetta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Attilio Bartolomucci might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donato Cagnetta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Attilio Bartolomucci ran back to his position shaking his head. There was no doubt that Cantone FC were the better team. Cantone FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
