If Carter Cannone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edoardo Stefano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Donati having to interfere. After 13 played minutes Novellara FC got a freekick which was hit by Francesco Ruggieri. In the 14th minute of the match Dino Barducci sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Frank Donati skillfully saved the ball. If Edmondo Capuozzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 played minutes Novellara FC got a freekick which was hit by Anthony Monzeglio. Edmondo Capuozzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Novellara FC booed when Selbagnone FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberigo Giovannelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enzo La Marca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carter Cannone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Novellara FC's Francesco Ruggieri got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edoardo Stefano made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Edoardo Stefano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frank Donati was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Selbagnone FC defense, Concetto Guarisi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enzo La Marca. The Selbagnone FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enzo La Marca should have stopped the shot. 74 minutes into the game, Selbagnone FC's Edoardo Stefano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frank Donati made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 78th minute, Edmondo Capuozzi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Augusto Caneva during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Augusto Caneva kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Carter Cannone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enzo La Marca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carter Cannone, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute, Concetto Guarisi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
