Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Carter Cannone got the match started through his kick off. The supporters of Novellara FC booed when Vernone was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emiliano Odisio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 5th minute, Novellara FC's Carter Cannone ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Demetrio Cherubini. Demetrio Cherubini yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Ermanno Onori received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Frank Donati tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Demetrio Angelini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Donati having to interfere. The supporters of Vernone booed when Novellara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Monzeglio didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Vernone's Demetrio Cherubini got control of the ball when Concetto Guarisi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ermanno Onori fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Donati having to interfere. In the 25th minute Francesco Ruggieri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demetrio Cherubini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carter Cannone might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Demetrio Cherubini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carter Cannone ran back to his position shaking his head. When Demetrio Marchesani fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vernone's protests and gave Demetrio Marchesani a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28th minute, Demetrio Marchesani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Concetto Guarisi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carter Cannone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Demetrio Cherubini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Demetrio Cherubini made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Concetto Guarisi sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 44 minutes, Carter Cannone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Novellara FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carter Cannone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frank Donati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Demetrio Angelini in the 47th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Demetrio Cherubini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto Guarisi, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute, one of Vernone:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vernone. After 62 played minutes Novellara FC got a freekick which was hit by Bianco Baur. Antonello Caccavale was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 63rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Novellara FC's zone, Ermanno Onori stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Donati came out of the goal and Ermanno Onori tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Antonello Pesce fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novellara FC's protests and gave Antonello Pesce a yellow card for diving instead. 77 minutes into the game, Emilio Bonfigli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vernone's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Novellara FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Vernone's Emilio Bonfigli got a free kick in the 77th minute. Bianco Baur, 78 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Frank Donati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Demetrio Angelini in the 81st minute of play. Demetrio Angelini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Donati having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Vernone failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
