The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dennis Nardone hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. If Fulvio Righi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Federico Monti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio De Santis in the 12th minute of play forced Cagliari's goalkeeper Concetto Garibaldi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 15 minutes, Fabio De Santis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Voltabarozzo AFC and the Cagliari players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Voltabarozzo AFC's Fabio De Santis got a free kick in the 16th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Armin Di Febo could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Florian Spada however easily saved by the left post. Federico Monti did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Florian Spada 24 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Fabio De Santis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Concetto Garibaldi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Concetto Garibaldi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fulvio Righi, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Armin Di Febo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the game, Florian Mazzocchi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cagliari's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Voltabarozzo AFC the free kick. In the 41st match minute, Cagliari was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Mazzocchi to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Fulvio Righi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Voltabarozzo AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fulvio Righi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Concetto Garibaldi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Federico Monti made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Fulvio Righi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Federico Monti in the 58th minute of play forced Voltabarozzo AFC's goalkeeper Florian Spada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dennis Nardone kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. After 63 minutes Voltabarozzo AFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alex De Marchi who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Cagliari's corner Alex De Marchi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Florian Spada quite easily take care of the ball. In the 65th minute, Fulvio Righi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 66th minute Fabio De Santis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Concetto Garibaldi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fulvio Righi in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Concetto Garibaldi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Concetto Garibaldi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio De Santis in the 74th minute of play. Federico Monti struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Florian Spada didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cagliari. With his leg Concetto Garibaldi managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Voltabarozzo AFC's Fulvio Righi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Claudio Bottega's late challenge caught a Voltabarozzo AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Bottega helped the player get up and apologised. Claudio Bottega kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Florian Mazzocchi hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. If Fulvio Righi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florian Spada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Federico Monti in the 90th minute of play. 93 minutes into the game, Cagliari's Armin Di Febo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Florian Spada made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Cagliari's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
