After recieving a nice pass, Poggio Favaro's Diego Rosini tried to score from far away in the 12th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Ercole Pardini ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ferruccio Burgnich was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Cerro Maggiore FC's Davide Bobbio got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cerro Maggiore FC's Ferruccio Burgnich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ercole Pardini in the 20th minute of play. Anthony Quadrini made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ennio Buccella in the 24th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anthony Colagrossi to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Poggio Favaro's zone, Ennio Buccella stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anthony Quadrini came out of the goal and Ennio Buccella tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 59 played minutes Cerro Maggiore FC got a freekick which was hit by Fedele Giolo. Davide Bobbio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Quadrini having to interfere. After 72 played minutes, Cerro Maggiore FC's Diego Gabriele shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Anthony Quadrini came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cerro Maggiore FC reached it. Anthony Quadrini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ennio Buccella, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Anthony Colagrossi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ferruccio Burgnich. That made the score 1-2 in the 85 minute of play. The Poggio Favaro supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Poggio Favaro would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
