In the 9th minute of the match Beppe Manna sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aldo Ferreri skillfully saved the ball. Franco Luciano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Ferreri having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Corrado Berardi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vertemate Con Minoprio's Aldo Ferreri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrizio De Sanctis in the 17th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franco Luciano in the 21st minute of play forced Vertemate Con Minoprio's goalkeeper Aldo Ferreri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elia Garofalo in the 23rd minute of play forced Palmaro's goalkeeper Ferdinando Guadagnoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Palmaro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franco Luciano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franco Luciano in the 43rd minute of play forced Vertemate Con Minoprio's goalkeeper Aldo Ferreri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute Fabrizio De Sanctis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Ferreri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Franco Luciano to strike the kick off in the second half. Ferdinando Guadagnoli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriano Carbonaro in the 55th minute of the match. After having played for 58 minutes, Adriano Carbonaro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vertemate Con Minoprio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adriano Carbonaro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Vertemate Con Minoprio defense, Fabrizio De Sanctis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aldo Ferreri. The Vertemate Con Minoprio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aldo Ferreri should have stopped the shot. If Adriano Carbonaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elia Garofalo in the 66th minute of play forced Palmaro's goalkeeper Ferdinando Guadagnoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Franco Luciano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aldo Ferreri came out and tried to block the shot, but Franco Luciano slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elia Garofalo in the 89th minute of play forced Palmaro's goalkeeper Ferdinando Guadagnoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Palmaro's Ferdinando Guadagnoli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Carbonaro in the 90th minute of play. The Palmaro supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palmaro would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
