Fabio Di Nardo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carter Capone in the 6th minute of the match. Biagio Manzoni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Di Nardo having to interfere. Alvise Amatori struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Fabio Di Nardo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Borgo Podgora. Angelo Baresi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmondo Visintin in the 13th minute. Edmondo Visintin got in the 15th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Angelo Baresi handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. San Leo's Alfonso Taurino got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Borgo Podgora's zone, Edmondo Visintin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angelo Baresi came out of the goal and Edmondo Visintin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edmondo Visintin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Angelo Baresi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 played minutes San Leo got a freekick which was hit by Camillo Pelliccioni. Borgo Podgora's Angelo Baresi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Borgo Podgora from getting a goal against them. The supporters of San Leo booed when Borgo Podgora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Biagio Manzoni didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Emilio Martini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borgo Podgora's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Leo the free kick. The supporters of San Leo booed when Borgo Podgora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Martini didn't get a good kick on the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Alfonso Taurino recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Angelo Baresi. Alfonso Taurino showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Edmondo Visintin might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Angelo Baresi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmondo Visintin ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Taurino in the 48th minute of play forced Borgo Podgora's goalkeeper Angelo Baresi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alvise Amatori was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Biagio Manzoni fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Fabio Di Nardo, passed just outside the right post. Alvise Amatori received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Fabio Di Nardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Biagio Manzoni ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fabio Di Nardo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The supporters of San Leo booed when Borgo Podgora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvise Amatori didn't get a good kick on the ball. Biagio Manzoni's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fabio Di Nardo firmly grabbed it by the left post. The long shot by Edmondo Del Pizzo in the 81st minute really tested Fabio Di Nardo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Frank Amicone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Baresi having to interfere. In the 87th minute Edmondo Visintin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Baresi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd match minute, Borgo Podgora was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carter Capone to maneuver through the defense. Borgo Podgora's Angelo Baresi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Taurino in the 96th minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
