Anfilogino Santini was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Donato Vida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anfilogino Santini having to interfere. Donato Rosi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Filippo Violento made a huge save. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Los Pumas's goalkeeper Filippo Violento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Amerigo Travaglini came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Los Pumas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amerigo Travaglini couldn't finish the play. Carmine Tucci's late challenge caught a Union River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carmine Tucci helped the player get up and apologised. After 25 played minutes, Union River Plate's Bianco Scandella shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Filippo Violento came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Union River Plate reached it. Filippo Violento made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Cesare Simeoni sent off a good shot on target. Donato Rosi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Filippo Violento made a huge save. 33 minutes in the game, Antonello Cruciani dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 57th minute Antonello Cruciani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filippo Violento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Amerigo Travaglini got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Amerigo Travaglini struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Anfilogino Santini didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Pumas. 93 minutes into the match, Donato Rosi notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Los Pumas's Filippo Violento. Filippo Violento was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Amerigo Travaglini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute.
