In the 21st minute Alfredo Pellegrini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Maiorano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Comunardo Iacovella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Capone having to interfere. A collision led to Sorbo FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alexander Circelli hit a great ball. Bianco Bearzot made a great header on Sorbo FC's corner, it was just that Magreta's Flavio Capone managed to reach the ball for a save. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ettore Proia made a kick off. The supporters of Magreta booed when Sorbo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniele Carta didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Sorbo FC's Flavio Capone threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ettore Proia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sorbo FC's goalkeeper Dario Maiorano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Gervasi in the 72nd minute of play forced Sorbo FC's goalkeeper Dario Maiorano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
