The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 12 minutes, Attilio Iovine made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Borgo San Michele's Alfonso De Lucia tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermanno Schiavoni in the 16th minute of play forced Palombina Nuova FC's goalkeeper Ernesto Petrella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Ermanno Schiavoni ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ernesto Petrella was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Alfonso De Lucia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Concetto Iacomini in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match, Attilio Iovine got a very nice opportunity to score, but Alfonso De Lucia was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Alex Colantonio kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Attilio Iovine came free with the goalkeeper in the 30th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alfonso De Lucia could save by the left post. In a very dangerous position, a player in Palombina Nuova FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! The referee gave Borgo San Michele a penalty, 33 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Antonio De Meis, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Palombina Nuova FC's Ernesto Petrella. 1-2. Emanuele Crema recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Attilio Iovine got free with Alfonso De Lucia in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ermanno Schiavoni was the one to do the kick off. Ermanno Schiavoni succeeded in the game's 54th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-3. Claudio Brunetta kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Concetto Iacomini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonso De Lucia having to interfere. After 64 played minutes Borgo San Michele got a freekick which was hit by Alex Colantonio. A hard shot 68 in the game by Emanuele Crema from a close distance when the talented Ernesto Petrella managed to make a qualified save. Palombina Nuova FC's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Palombina Nuova FC's zone, Emanuele Crema stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Petrella came out of the goal and Emanuele Crema tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ermanno Schiavoni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Palombina Nuova FC booed when Borgo San Michele was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Colantonio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfonso De Lucia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Concetto Iacomini went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Concetto Iacomini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 94 played minutes Palombina Nuova FC got a freekick which was hit by Armin Minati. Ermanno Schiavoni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Petrella having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Borgo San Michele walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
