In the 21st match minute, Livorno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano De Vito to maneuver through the defense. Ercole Mirto took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernesto Palombi. Ernesto Palombi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Eugenio Capasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Livorno's Ernesto Palombi got control of the ball when Eugenio Capasso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ernesto Palombi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ercole Mirto's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Achille Uguccioni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Fausto Gabriele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ercole Mirto was the one to do the kick off. Livorno's Ernesto Palombi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ercole Mirto in the 52nd minute of play. After 58 minutes, Dino Masci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Livorno and the Patti AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th minute, one of Livorno:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Livorno. Ercole Mirto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dario Della Torre hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Ernesto Palombi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Capasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Fausto Gabriele's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dino Bomba was relentless in the 71st minute of the game.
