Firenze's Adriano Melucci got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Davide De Sisti's late challenge caught a Borghetti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Davide De Sisti helped the player get up and apologised. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arrigo Biancone to make the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Antonio Carozza successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beppe Novella in the 88th minute of play forced Firenze's goalkeeper Emiliano Graziano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beppe Novella received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Emiliano Graziano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Borghetti's Antonio Carozza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Borghetti from getting a goal against them. When Amedeo Arcangeli, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 95 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Emiliano Graziano was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Emiliano Graziano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amedeo Arcangeli in the 97th minute of play. The Firenze players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Borghetti from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
