Dave Canzano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Carter Schiavoni came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Coviolo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carter Schiavoni couldn't finish the play. Armando Balestra might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dave Canzano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armando Balestra ran back to his position shaking his head. After 23 played minutes Coviolo got a freekick which was hit by Camillo Mazzone. Dave Canzano made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Flavio Giorgi sent off a good shot on target. When Donato Galdi fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santa Marinella AFC's protests and gave Donato Galdi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st minute, Donato Galdi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dave Canzano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavio Giorgi in the 37th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Camillo Mazzone was the one to do the kick off. In the 69th minute, Armando Balestra made a precise shot to the right of Dave Canzano. Coviolo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0.
