Diego Pasquino kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 85th match minute, Galliate Lombardo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Colantoni to maneuver through the defense. If Ettore Micarelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute Flavio Briano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amedeo Simonetti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Galliate Lombardo's Ettore Orsi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Amedeo Simonetti. That made the score 2-4 after 92 minutes of play. The Galliate Lombardo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Galliate Lombardo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
