Domenico Chiola recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arrigo Di Mario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberigo Ferri having to interfere. The supporters of Coviolo FC booed when Chieti Scalo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filippo Proia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute of the match Francesco Di Ianni sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alberigo Ferri skillfully saved the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Chieti Scalo FC's Dario Quadrini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ferruccio Orsini narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 33 minutes of play Chieti Scalo FC's Aurelio Cordone was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 33rd match minute, Chieti Scalo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aurelio Cordone to maneuver through the defense. Fulvio Galli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferruccio Orsini read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Alberigo Ferri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Coviolo FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chieti Scalo FC were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Domenico Chiola to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Chieti Scalo FC's Fulvio Galli got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 57th match minute, Chieti Scalo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filippo Proia to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Coviolo FC's goalkeeper Ferruccio Orsini had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fulvio Galli.
