Fabiano Iacomini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frank Moscatelli having to make a save. Carter Fioriti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilio Bevilacqua having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Ennio Ascenzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emilio Bevilacqua made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carter Fioriti in the 25th minute. SSC NAPOLI were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after Calerno's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Anselmo Piacentini took the corner. Anthony Verdecchia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Calerno booed when SSC NAPOLI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damiano Giansante didn't get a good kick on the ball. Calerno's Emilio Bevilacqua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberigo Uguccioni in the 34th minute of play. Carter Fioriti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emilio Bevilacqua read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. When Alberigo Uguccioni came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the SSC NAPOLI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberigo Uguccioni couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alberigo Uguccioni stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Frank Moscatelli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Iacomini in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute Fabiano Iacomini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Moscatelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emilio Bevilacqua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberigo Uguccioni in the 62nd minute of play. SSC NAPOLI's Carter Fioriti got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberigo Uguccioni in the 68th minute of play forced Calerno's goalkeeper Emilio Bevilacqua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carter Fioriti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind SSC NAPOLI's goalkeeper Frank Moscatelli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alberigo Uguccioni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 81 minutes into the match, SSC NAPOLI's Carter Fioriti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emilio Bevilacqua narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Cosimo Mantini fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SSC NAPOLI's protests and gave Cosimo Mantini a yellow card for diving instead. 90 minutes into the match, Alberigo Uguccioni had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emilio Bevilacqua. Calerno's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberigo Uguccioni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Ernesto Vitale's late challenge caught a SSC NAPOLI's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernesto Vitale helped the player get up and apologised. After 97 played minutes Calerno got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Vitale. SSC NAPOLI's Anselmo Piacentini couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 99th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Calerno. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
