The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alberigo Apicella could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Augusto Bencivenni made a huge save. Cesare Carlucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Tellini, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Aurelio Tellini struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Cesare Carlucci didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vespolate AFC. A collision led to Vespolate AFC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Alvise Giolo hit a great ball. Augusto Bencivenni was a little too slow when Beppe Mameli got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. Cesare Carlucci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Tellini in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute of the match, Beppe Mameli tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Augusto Bencivenni saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Vespolate AFC booed when F.C. Grongrura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesare Sivieri didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 42 played minutes F.C. Grongrura got a freekick which was hit by Cosimo Zulli. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Cesare Carlucci stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurelio Tellini's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberigo Apicella in the 59th minute of play forced Vespolate AFC's goalkeeper Augusto Bencivenni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. Grongrura's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Emilio Bosco was slow to take the kick. During this time Vespolate AFC's players had a chance to rest. 68 minutes into the match, Vespolate AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Beppe Mameli came free, but Augusto Bencivenni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alvise Giolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alvise Giolo came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Vespolate AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alvise Giolo couldn't finish the play. When Beppe Mameli fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. Grongrura's protests and gave Beppe Mameli a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, F.C. Grongrura's Beppe Mameli got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 86th minute, Alberigo Apicella got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 90 played minutes F.C. Grongrura got a freekick which was hit by Fabiano Costanzo. A collision led to F.C. Grongrura getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Achille Monaco hit a great ball. Aurelio Tellini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesare Carlucci having to interfere. Aurelio Marra kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
