In the 3rd minute Alfredo Gerola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermanno Giuliani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Emilio Egger fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Picarelli's protests and gave Emilio Egger a yellow card for diving instead. Emilio Egger hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Enzo Granato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Lattanzio, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. A collision led to Picarelli getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Davide Furia hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christian Lattanzio in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enzo Granato prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 14th minute Carter Serantoni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermanno Giuliani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amedeo Fioravanti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Picarelli booed when Montorfano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Achille Del Vecchio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ermanno Giuliani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carter Serantoni, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Montorfano's Ermanno Giuliani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carter Serantoni in the 19th minute of play. Ermanno Giuliani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carter Serantoni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Enzo Granato made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amedeo Fioravanti in the 23rd minute. Montorfano's Ermanno Giuliani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Gerola in the 28th minute of play. After 32 played minutes Picarelli got a freekick which was hit by Emilio Egger. Amedeo Fioravantis short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Enzo Granato to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Christian Lattanzio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Enzo Granato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Carter Serantoni had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ermanno Giuliani. Montorfano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carter Serantoni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Carter Serantoni made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Arrigo Ricciuti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carter Serantoni's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ermanno Giuliani firmly grabbed it by the left post. Carter Serantoni could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ermanno Giuliani made a huge save. Carter Serantoni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Armando Borel struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Enzo Granato didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montorfano. If Amedeo Fioravanti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carter Serantoni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Carter Serantoni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Picarelli walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
