The audience thought a goal was coming when Dennis Ballerini got free with Andrea Pensa in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Andrea Pensa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Bisegna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Cantone getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Attilio Frasca hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Armin Attili managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mandria's supporters rose to their feet, but Armin Attili was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alex Miconi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 18 minutes into the game, Cantone's Dennis Ballerini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrea Pensa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 21 minutes into the match, Cantone's Fausto Bisegna sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andrea Pensa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 23rd minute Ernesto De Rossi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrea Pensa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mandria's Andrea Pensa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Cappucci in the 24th minute of play. Anfilogino Sciarra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 34 minutes, Fausto Bisegna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cantone's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Bisegna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the game, Attilio Frasca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cantone's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mandria the free kick. Attilio Frasca kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ennio Di Giuseppe in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alex Miconi saved Cantone from getting behind. After 39 minutes, Alfredo Antenucci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cantone and the Mandria players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto De Rossi in the 43rd minute of play forced Mandria's goalkeeper Andrea Pensa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cantone reached it.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernesto De Rossi made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Cantone's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Anfilogino Sciarra fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 57 minutes into the match, Mandria's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto De Rossi came free, but Andrea Pensa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Mandria getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Ercole Mazzei hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Ennio Di Giuseppe dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alex Miconi, 1-1. Ernesto De Rossi's late challenge caught a Mandria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
