Adriano Helfer was left in no man's land by his defense there! Domenico Burgnich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adriano Helfer having to interfere. If Domenico Burgnich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute Domenico Burgnich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Helfer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Achille Nelli fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marina Di Pisa's protests and gave Achille Nelli a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Marina Di Pisa getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Achille Nelli hit a great ball. Domenico Burgnich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Adriano Helfer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Marina Di Pisa fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! In the 33rd minute there was a penalty for Cornaredo. Alessio Zuccarini stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Adriano Helfer. 0-2. Fabiano Croce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Marina Di Pisa booed when Cornaredo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Piacente didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Marina Di Pisa's Amos Sansoni tried to score from far away in the 41st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Cesare Aureli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabiano Croce in the 43rd minute of play. Cesare Aureli didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. The Marina Di Pisa players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cornaredo were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Croce made a kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Cornaredo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Domenico Burgnich to maneuver through the defense. Adriano Helfer was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ciro Martano. Alberigo Graziano kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. In the 57th minute of the match, Domenico Burgnich tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Adriano Helfer saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 57 played minutes Marina Di Pisa got a freekick which was hit by Alberigo Graziano. If Domenico Burgnich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Domenico Burgnich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fedele Palmucci hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. If Felice Mazzone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Adriano Helfer was out of position in the 67 minute of play, and Domenico Burgnich capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Domenico Burgnich really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Felice Mazzone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Fabiano Croce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marina Di Pisa's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabiano Croce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cesare Aureli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eugenio Zacchia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, Cornaredo's goal looked a bit too open when Eugenio Zacchia came free, but Cesare Aureli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Fabiano Croce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Cornaredo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cornaredo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
