In the 40th minute, Flavio Gelsomini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rivalta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The supporters of Rivalta booed when Brunate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Burgnich didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Brunate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rivalta were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Flavio Gelsomini stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 76th minute, Flavio Gelsomini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bianco Oroni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camillo Tullo having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Brunate's goalkeeper Arrigo Cosi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberigo Renzetti. Camillo Tullo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bianco Oroni in the 89th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Rivalta's zone, Bianco Oroni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Camillo Tullo came out of the goal and Bianco Oroni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Rivalta supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rivalta would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
