After a rather tough play, Borghi FC's Ciccio Clemente got a free kick in the 6th minute. If Dennis Briano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ennio Giardini in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fabrizio Barchiesi saved Borghi FC from getting behind. In the 15th minute, Ennio Giardini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grugno AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 20th minute, Federico Guerrini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Grugno AFC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Ciccio Nelli hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Grugno AFC's zone, Federico Guerrini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexander Zara came out of the goal and Federico Guerrini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 33 played minutes Grugno AFC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Bonfigli. Alberigo Albertosi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabrizio Barchiesi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ennio Giardini in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Federico Guerrini to strike the kick off in the second half. When Alberigo Albertosi came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Borghi FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberigo Albertosi couldn't finish the play. After having played for 55 minutes, Dennis Briano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grugno AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dennis Briano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Grugno AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberigo Albertosi came free, but Alexander Zara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alexander Zara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberigo Albertosi in the 71st minute of the match. Frank Puja hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Alexander Zara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Federico Guerrini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dennis Briano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Federico Guerrini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Alexander Zara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd match minute, Grugno AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alessio Mazzetti to maneuver through the defense. Alexander Zara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Federico Guerrini in the 93rd minute of the match. Borghi FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 96th minute, when Dennis Briano scored to the left of an out of position Fabrizio Barchiesi, making the score, 0-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Grugno AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
