The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Fiumicino FC's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Landolfi came free, but Dennis Del Pizzo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 5 minutes, Alfredo Frezza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olgiate Olona AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Frezza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edoardo Verna struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Carmine Toppi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fiumicino FC. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Carmine Toppi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 13 played minutes Fiumicino FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristoforo Mazzocchi. Dennis Del Pizzo came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Olgiate Olona AFC's Angelo Landolfi. But to his dismay, Angelo Landolfi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some careless play in the Fiumicino FC defense, Angelo Landolfi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dennis Del Pizzo. The Fiumicino FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dennis Del Pizzo should have stopped the shot. After having played for 27 minutes, Edoardo Verna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fiumicino FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edoardo Verna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Edoardo Verna took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Carmine Toppi to make any attempt to save it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edoardo Verna got free with Carmine Toppi in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Landolfi in the 36th minute of play forced Fiumicino FC's goalkeeper Dennis Del Pizzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dennis Del Pizzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Landolfi, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Alfredo Frezza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Dennis Del Pizzo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Concetto Moretta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Carmine Toppi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fiumicino FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olgiate Olona AFC the free kick. The supporters of Olgiate Olona AFC booed when Fiumicino FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amerigo De Feo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute, Angelo Landolfi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dennis Del Pizzo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angelo Landolfi's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After 68 minutes, Emanuele De Simone mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fiumicino FC and the Olgiate Olona AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 68th minute, Emanuele De Simone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 69th minute of the match Damiano Anzolin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dennis Del Pizzo skillfully saved the ball. Alfredo Frezza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Del Pizzo having to interfere. Edoardo Verna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fiumicino FC's Concetto Moretta got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Frezza got free with Dennis Del Pizzo in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Olgiate Olona AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Olgiate Olona AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
