After 33 played minutes, Ponzana FC's Anfilogino Bucci shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Domenico Marchegiani came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ponzana FC reached it. After having played for 39 minutes, Alberto Bellone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Posta AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Bellone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 44th match minute, Ponzana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Zara to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the game, Alberto Bellone cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Dario Sacchetti was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Ernesto Scarinci made the kick off in the second half. When Alberto Bellone came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Posta AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Bellone couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, Anfilogino Bucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dario Sacchetti stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dennis Corvo's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. 92 minutes into the match, Posta AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabio De Fina came free, but Domenico Marchegiani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute Alfredo Corvasce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domenico Marchegiani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
