Ettore Spitaleri's late challenge caught a Desio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ettore Spitaleri helped the player get up and apologised. If Alberigo Puglielli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Franco Tullo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Concetto Orsini, passed just outside the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberigo De Tommasi during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 15th minute, Alberigo De Tommasi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 16 played minutes, Desio's Davide Fata shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Comunardo Cantagallo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Desio reached it. Ettore Spitaleri hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 17th match minute, Iolo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Puddu to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Cristoforo Teodori hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ettore Prisco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Comunardo Cantagallo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Concetto Orsini was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Amedeo Tatangelo. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alberigo Puglielli stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Iolo's goal looked a bit too open when Alberigo Puglielli came free, but Comunardo Cantagallo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Desio's Ettore Prisco got a free kick in the 54th minute. Alvise Liberati sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute, Ettore Prisco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Franco Tullo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ciccio Giardini fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iolo's protests and gave Ciccio Giardini a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Desio booed when Iolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciccio Giardini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Concetto Orsini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franco Tullo in the 80th minute of play. Iolo's Comunardo Cantagallo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Iolo from getting a goal against them. Alvise Liberati sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Iolo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Desio had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
