Match Report

San Mauro Torinese
Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0)
It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Amos Grimaldi kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Villaricca's Ferdinando Angelini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anthony Prisco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Anthony Prisco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amos Grimaldi, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Davide Berardo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Emanuele Taurino showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 7 minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, San Mauro Torinese's Emanuele Taurino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Davide Berardo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Amos Grimaldi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anthony Prisco having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Amos Grimaldi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villaricca's supporters rose to their feet, but Amos Grimaldi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anthony Prisco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the match, San Mauro Torinese's goal looked a bit too open when Amos Grimaldi came free, but Anthony Prisco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute Amos Grimaldi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anthony Prisco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute, Ferdinando Angelini made a precise shot to the right of Anthony Prisco. San Mauro Torinese's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The supporters of Villaricca booed when San Mauro Torinese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florian Basile didn't get a good kick on the ball. Villaricca were awarded a corner in the 50th minute after San Mauro Torinese's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bernardo Ursini took the corner. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damiano Basso to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Emanuele Taurino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Davide Berardo was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Ferdinando Angelini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anthony Prisco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Amos Grimaldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amos Grimaldi struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Anthony Prisco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Villaricca. Amos Grimaldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Damiano Basso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 77 played minutes Villaricca got a freekick which was hit by Corrado Orsi. After 81 minutes of play, San Mauro Torinese's Damiano Basso made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Davide Berardo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ferdinando Angelini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 91 played minutes, San Mauro Torinese's Federico Pilla shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Davide Berardo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in San Mauro Torinese reached it. Alvise Tabacchi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Prisco having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Villaricca's Amos Grimaldi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Anthony Prisco. That made the score 3-2 after 96 minutes of play. Corrado Orsi hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. San Mauro Torinese were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Villaricca for a fine match.
