Anthony Del Papa might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eraldo Loreto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anthony Del Papa ran back to his position shaking his head. Eraldo Loreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anthony Del Papa in the 5th minute of play. Eraldo Loreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 13th minute of the match Diego Miranda shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eraldo Loreto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Vicolungo's Anthony Del Papa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eraldo Loreto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute Carter Di Paolo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fulvio Pinti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, one of Vicolungo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vicolungo. The referee gave Monticello AFC a penalty, 25 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dino Grifoni, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vicolungo's Fulvio Pinti. 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bianco Silvestre in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fulvio Pinti prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Carter Di Paolo came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Monticello AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carter Di Paolo couldn't finish the play. Eraldo Loreto came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Vicolungo's Edmondo Villa. But to his dismay, Edmondo Villa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 40 minutes into the game, Adriano Pompilio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Monticello AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vicolungo the free kick. The supporters of Vicolungo booed when Monticello AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Pompilio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Monticello AFC's goalkeeper Eraldo Loreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 43 minutes of play, Vicolungo's Edmondo Villa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eraldo Loreto was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmondo Villa was the one to do the kick off. If Christian Guida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute, Amos Marcucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Christian Guida kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fulvio Pinti. That made the score 2-2 in the 61 minute of play. In the 66th minute, Amos Marcucci got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 68 minutes, Edmondo Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vicolungo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmondo Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Amos Marcucci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st match minute, Monticello AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ermanno Vespucci to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Edmondo Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eraldo Loreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fulvio Pinti made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Bianco Silvestre sent off a good shot on target. After 76 minutes, Diego Miranda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vicolungo and the Monticello AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edmondo Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eraldo Loreto having to interfere. After 86 played minutes Monticello AFC got a freekick which was hit by Claudio De Bettin. 95 minutes into the game, Bianco Silvestre was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Monticello AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vicolungo the free kick. A collision led to Monticello AFC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Bianco Silvestre hit a great ball. Diego Miranda was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 96th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. With a little luck, Vicolungo's Fulvio Pinti got control of the ball when Carter Di Paolo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
