Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Sarmeola FC's Amedeo Sivieri started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Verucchio's Fulvio Cucci got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amedeo Petito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Mosca having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fulvio Cucci in the 8th minute of play forced Sarmeola FC's goalkeeper Flavio Mosca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes into the game, Fulvio Cucci cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Flavio Mosca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Concetto Olmi's late challenge caught a Sarmeola FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Concetto Olmi helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sarmeola FC booed when Verucchio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Concetto Olmi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amedeo Sivieri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Antonello Spagnuolo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute Amedeo Petito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Mosca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Mosca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fulvio Cucci, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Amedeo Sivieri got free with Antonello Spagnuolo in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22nd minute, Attilio Benedetti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Di Ianni was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 23rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Christian Di Monte dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Antonello Spagnuolo, 1-1. If Amedeo Sivieri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 31 minutes, Attilio Benedetti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Verucchio and the Sarmeola FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, Attilio Benedetti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonello Spagnuolo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amedeo Sivieri in the 38th minute of the match. After 40 played minutes, Sarmeola FC's Alvaro Cirone shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Antonello Spagnuolo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sarmeola FC reached it. Flavio Mosca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amedeo Petito in the 44th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
After a rather tough play, Sarmeola FC's Alvaro Cirone got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Sarmeola FC's Christian Di Monte got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Andrea Pallotta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonello Spagnuolo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amedeo Sivieri in the 63rd minute of play. After 71 played minutes Sarmeola FC got a freekick which was hit by Elia Di Fonzo. After a rather tough play, Verucchio's Attilio Benedetti got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 77thth minute of the game Amedeo Sivieri who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Verucchio's Antonello Spagnuolo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 81st minute, Elia Di Fonzo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavio Mosca acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 82nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Filippo Petrosino. Flavio Mosca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fulvio Cucci in the 84th minute. Christian Di Monte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonello Spagnuolo having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Christian Di Monte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sarmeola FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Di Monte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antonello Spagnuolo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Carter Palomba fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verucchio's protests and gave Carter Palomba a yellow card for diving instead. In the 95th minute, Carter Palomba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 99 minutes, Fulvio Cucci managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Verucchio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fulvio Cucci was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Verucchio's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
