With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antonio Montagna in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anselmo Briano saved Borgo Muratori from getting behind. Anselmo Briano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Montagna in the 7th minute of play. Diego Grimaldi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Elia Antognoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ferdinando Palmisano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diego Grimaldi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Elia Antognoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anselmo Briano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Antonio Montagna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvaro Cellucci was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 38 minutes into the match. After 37 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Formigine FC! Elia Antognoni made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Diego Grimaldi sent off a good shot on target. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ferdinando Palmisano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Borgo Muratori's Diego Grimaldi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elia Antognoni narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 54 minutes into the match, Diego Grimaldi notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Formigine FC's Elia Antognoni. Elia Antognoni was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Diego Grimaldi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elia Antognoni having to interfere. 69 minutes into the game, Dario Zappacosta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Formigine FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Borgo Muratori the free kick. In the 70th match minute, Formigine FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dario Zappacosta to maneuver through the defense. Alfonso Meluccis short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Anselmo Briano to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpected shot in the 76th minute by Alfonso Melucci got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Dennis Di Blasio kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. With a little luck, Borgo Muratori's Anselmo Briano got control of the ball when Alfonso Melucci tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Grimaldi in the 82nd minute of play forced Formigine FC's goalkeeper Elia Antognoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a left leg Elia Antognoni saved Formigine FC from getting behind. 87 minutes into the match, Diego Grimaldi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elia Antognoni. Formigine FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Grimaldi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Elia Antognoni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Grimaldi in the 94th minute of the match. Diego Grimaldi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elia Antognoni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Borgo Muratori fans cheered their team off the field, for while Formigine FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
