When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Anfilogino Di Giambattista put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Bernardo Tullio. With a little luck, Arola's Alessio Carta got control of the ball when Elia Malinconico tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led Zelarino AFC's Camillo Petroni to fire away a dangerous shot which Alessio Carta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 43rd minute, Zelarino AFC's Enzo Giannico seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Enzo Giannico the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Zelarino AFC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Enzo Giannico had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Arola booed when Zelarino AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Giannico didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elia Malinconico to make the kick off. Alessio Carta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Palleschi, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute.
