After having played for 7 minutes, Eraldo Polimeno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ponzana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eraldo Polimeno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Cesare Bozzelli fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Masone's protests and gave Cesare Bozzelli a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Masone was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesare Bozzelli to maneuver through the defense. Eraldo Polimeno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Alessandro Santucci kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Enzo Zarrella. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. Achille Como showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Casale, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Masone's goalkeeper Enzo Zarrella, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, Alvaro Casale notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ponzana's Achille Como. Achille Como was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Masone's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Alessandro Santucci scored to the left of an out of position Enzo Zarrella, making the score, 2-1. Concetto De Vito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ernesto Riva scored 2-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Achille Como, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alessandro Santucci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enzo Zarrella having to interfere. If Alessandro Santucci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alessandro Santucci was the one to do the kick off. If Ernesto Riva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eraldo Polimeno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Enzo Zarrella tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eraldo Polimeno in the 76th minute of play forced Masone's goalkeeper Enzo Zarrella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Masone's goal looked a bit too open when Alessandro Santucci came free, but Enzo Zarrella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute, Alessandro Santucci ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Enzo Zarrella was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After 84 minutes of play, Ponzana's Alessandro Santucci made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Enzo Zarrella was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alvaro Albani during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Ponzana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvaro Albani to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute of the match Francesco Contaldi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Achille Como skillfully saved the ball. If Ernesto Riva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
